CWLP Announces New Bill Pay Website, Some Fees Still Apply

HomeTOP12From the City of Springfield Tuesday morning.  See below for more information on applicable fees:

City Water, Light and Power has launched a new, updated website that includes the ability for customers not only to pay their bills electronically but also now to manage their CWLP accounts online. The updated website, still located at, includes drop-down menus and other design features that make it easier to navigate and quickly find information about the CWLP’s various divisions, Lake Springfield recreation, how to save energy and water, and much more.

Online account management is an important feature of the new website. The easiest way to link to this feature is via the Manage Your Account Online button located in the upper right corner of the CWLP home page. By registering for online account management, customers will be able to view their current bills; track billing histories, metering readings, and usage and transaction histories; update account information; request service transfers and termination; and choose to receive email notifications when their bill is available for viewing each month rather than receiving a paper bill.

To register for the online account management function, customers will need to provide their CWLP account and customer numbers and a valid e-mail address. They will need to log in each time they want to check their account in the future. Customers who prefer not to register for online account management will still be able to pay their bills online using the QuickPay payment option offered on the main page of the online account management site.

Whether using online account management or QuickPay to pay their bills online, customers will be charged a 2.8% fee for all credit card transactions and a 50 cent fee for electronic check (e-check) transactions. These fees are collected by the payment processor, not CWLP.

Customers wishing to avoid online payment transaction fees might want to consider checking with their banks or other third-party bill-payment providers about arranging for electronic bill payments, which are free of charge. Or they can sign up with CWLP to have their monthly bill payments automatically debited from their checking or savings account, which is a free service offered by the utility.

Customers who register for online account management and sign up for electronic billing will receive an e-mail notification each month when their bill is ready for viewing. The email will include a link to the payment site, from which customers can click on the View Bill link to see and print their current bill. They will also be able to access their billing history by year. Customers may opt to pay the bill electronically or print and mail in the bill and their payment via U.S. Post.

Nonetheless, the posts are too brief for newbies.
Could you please extend them a bit from next time?
