Daley Spokesman Says He’s Running For Governor

A spokesman for former White House chief of staff Bill Daley
says the Chicago Democrat is “100 percent in” the 2014 race for Illinois
governor.
Daley announced Tuesday that he’s formed an exploratory committee to run
against Gov. Pat Quinn, a fellow Democrat. The committee allows Daley to begin
raising campaign funds.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan said Tuesday she’s “very seriously considering”
running. That could set up a Democratic primary involving two members of
Illinois’ political royal families. Madigan’s father is the state’s longtime
powerful House Speaker.
There’s been speculation for months that Daley wouldn’t run if Madigan gets in
the race. But Daley strategist Pete Giangreco says he’s running regardless of
what Madigan decides.
Daley has flirted with running for public office before, but has never
officially jumped in.  (AP)
