Tornado Drought Likely Is Over



It’s hard to imagine after the news of the past several says that the U.S. has been in a tornado drought.  The number of tornadoes from May 2012 to April of this year (197) was the lowest on record and the number of deaths (7) the second lowest during this 12 month period.

Illinois State Climatologist Jim Angel says the severe weather this month likely means the “tornado drought” is over… for now.  He discussed that and other weather topics on WUIS’ Illinois Edition:
