From the hard-fought attempt to pass the national DREAM Act – to a successful Illinois measure that will allow some undocumented immigrants to get driver’s licenses later this year, a host of proposals and laws regarding immigration have long been in the public eye. Tomorrow (4/19) the University of Illinois Springfield will participate in the Immigration Reform Day of Action. Hinda Seif teaches sociology, anthropology, and women and gender studies at UIS. Her research on Latino immigrant youth civic engagement has been done with financial support from the UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership. Seif’s also a research associate with the Center for Comparative Immigration Studies at the University of California San Diego. Seif will speak at noon at UIS tomorrow.
