Illinois fishermen and hunters need to renew their licenses after they expired Monday.
Tim Schweizer of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources said there is no price increase for the licenses.
But he said DNR is charging more for other things, thanks to a new law intended to stave off state park closures.
SCHWEIZER: “But many of those are fees, for instance, are permits for oil, gas, wells – things that the department does that you might not associate with hunting and fishing.”
Schweizer said almost all out-of-state licenses will stay the same, but trout fishermen who are not Illinois residents will have to pay an extra $30.
Schweizer said hunting or fishing without a license can result in a $120 fine.
