Board Chairman Andy Van Meter says that Sangamon County returned to a Level 1 Winter Weather Emergency Monday morning at 7 o’ clock.
County officials say that under a Level 1 Winter Weather Emergency, roadways remain hazardous. Drivers will encounter blowing and drifting snow and roadways may be icy.
Sangamon County Undersheriff Jack Campbell says his office assisted 43 motorist and handled 4 property damage accidents between 11:30 11:30 a.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday.
Sangamon County Highway Department snow plows began clearing county roads at 4:00 a.m. Monday, in an effort to ensure that all county roads have open lanes, and to allow for a return to a Level 1 Winter Weather Emergency.
