A-G Files Suit Against Springfield Financial Planner

A Springfield man is being taken to court for allegedly defrauding seniors through insurance investment products.  Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed the suit Thursday against Richard Lee Van Dyke Jr. and his financial firm Dick Van Dyke Financial limited.  Madigan’s suit says Van Dyke falsely advertised and misrepresented to area seniors that he is a knowledgable and unbiased financial expert.  She says in reality, Van Dyke steered many of them into investments where he earned high commissions.    The suit also alleges Van Dyke misrepresented himself as having offices in other towns and that he was a registered investment advisor, even after he failed to renew his registration.
Van Dyke, when contacted at his office, says he categorically denies the claims.  He says he’s received no complaints from clients.
