This spring the Ball-Chatham School District will again have to borrow money to make payroll. It’s a practice School Board members hope to stop – starting next school year.
Last night the Board voted unanimously to cut operational spending by $3 million to help shore up savings that have been dwindling for several years.
Peter Gray spoke with Ball-Chatham Superintendent Carrie VanAlstine about how the District’s reserve money got so low, and what changes teachers and students will face next year as the School Board works to get its finances back on track.
