Illinois History Symposium Begins Thursday

The 2013 Illinois History Symposium takes place at the UIS campus this year. It runs February 28th through March 2nd and the focus will be on slavery and emancipation and global perspectives.
Students, the public and historians are all welcome. WUIS spoke with William Furry, Executive Director of the Illinois State Historical Society, Jonathon Goldberg-Belle, Director of International Programs at UIS and Holly Kent, an Assistant professor of History at UIS. Professor Kent says the theme ties in with the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation….

The symposium is open to the public.  There is a cost to attend although UIS students and faculty can go for free.  More details here.
