Snow Emergency Lifted in Springfield

UPDATE:  As of 9:00 a.m. Friday, the Springfield Police Department has lifted the snow emergency and all vehicle parking restrictions have been rescinded. 

The Director of Public Works and the Chief of Police has declared a snow emergency for the City of Springfield.   Parking, standing or leaving vehicles on any or all of the designated snow emergency streets is prohibited for the next 72 hours.

Sangamon County has declared county roads hazardous and issued a Level 1 snow emergency.

Also, University of Illinois Springfield and Lincoln Land Community College have canceled night classes. Basketball games at UIS are still scheduled.

District 186 also has canceled most events.  Details here

Most area schools and other organizations have canceled events tonight.
