An American Legion Post in Urbana is the first in the state to bring in more than $1 million in monthly revenue from legalized video gambling.
The Champaign News-Gazette reports that last month gamblers at the Legion Post 71 fed $1.07 million into the post’s five video poker terminals.
Legion post Commander Bruce Brown says the terminals have helped triple his business.Monthly revenue totals from other machines in Urbana and neighboring Champaign are generally much smaller.
The state legalized video gambling terminals last summer. The state takes 30 percent of gamblers’ losses.
