The public still has a few days left to weigh in on budget issues in District 186. A survey can be found at the District’s website and will remain available until Monday morning. A community budget review committee came up with the questions, which focus on possible budget cuts and fee hikes.
David Milling chairs the committee. He says so far, over 12-hundred responses have been received.
MILLING “I think the responses are in line with what we feelneeds to be done. But certainly if some responses come in that are overwhelmingly one way the board isn’t thinking, we’ll have to take that into consideration when we make our recommendations.”
Milling says the majority of people who have weighed in favor keeping teachers. but he says nearly 90 percent want to see more administrative cuts in the district.
The review committee will make its final report to the District 186 board at the December 17th meeting. Decisions on the budget are expected early in 2013.
The district has a huge financial deficit…. the superintendent has outlined cuts totaling about 8 million dollars.
