The City of Springfield’s Public Works Department is taking requests for removal of sweetgum trees, an annoyance for many property owners. They can problematic for the city as well, dropping the spiky gumballs into the storm sewers.
Trees on public right of ways that are also in undesirable locations can be taken down for 250-dollars. Crews will remove the tree, take out the stump and backfill the hole that’s left behind.
