Culture Of Clothing Tonight At ALPLM

Tonight at the Abraham Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield… fashion and history will meet. An event that focuses on the what Mary Todd Lincoln wore starts at 6:30. It’s called “The Culture of Clothing”. Re-created dresses and jewelry will be showcased. Actresses will don the outfits that include Mary’s fashions as a homemaker, a first lady and a widow in mourning after the loss of three sons and a husband.
Holly Kent, Assistant Professor of History at UIS, has been involved with the project. She spoke with WUIS’ Sean Crawford and says plenty can be learned by studying the fashions of the time…
