Science Lecture Tonight On Ft. de Chartres

Work continues at the site known as Fort de Chartres in southern Illinois.  There were actually a series a forts at the location, which served as the military and governmental centers of the French colony in the state.  There is a partially reconstructed historic stone fort.  But Robert Mazrim has focused recently on a wooden fort, long gone from view above ground.  Mazrim, who is with the Illinois State Archaeological Survey, will share findings when he speaks tonight during the Illinois State Museum’s next science series lecture in Springfield.    WUIS’ Sean Crawford spoke with Mazrim about the project…
