Larry Kirwan

Larry Kirwan

Larry Kirwan made his name with the Irish rock group Black 47.  These days he’s turning his attention to the past, all the way back to the 1860′s.  Kirwan wrote the musical Hard Times, based on the music of Stephen Foster and set during the draft riots in the notorious Five Points neighborhood in New York City.
Kirwan will visit Springfield and play Thursday and Friday nights in the Union Theatre at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.  He tells us how the idea came about….
