According to Illinois’ Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, reducing state employees’ retirement benefits will still leave Illinois in a fiscal mess.
The head of the self-described bipartisan think tank, Ralph Martire, spoke with WUIS’ Sean Crawford on Monday’s “Illinois Edition”.
Martire says even if a law were passed to cut employees’ benefits, it wouldn’t relieve the fiscal pressure created by the repayment structure for the debt owed to the pension system:
