Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford
Contracts statements show State Treasurer Dan Rutherford’s office is paying a Chicago consulting firm nearly $2 million to rebrand the state’s program for returning unclaimed property to residents.
The Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/NBNuTD ) obtained the contract through the state comptroller’s office. The contract shows Henson Consulting will receive the money over three years to “re-brand and market the Cash Dash program.” The program was previously known as Cash Dash but was reintroduced this month as I-Cash. Last year it returned more than $100 million in unclaimed property to rightful owners or heirs. That’s an increase of 23 percent from the year before.
The treasurer’s office says the money used to fund the rebranding will come from unclaimed property funds. A spokesman says the treasurer “wanted to do more” with the program. (AP)
