Springfield Discusses “Zero Waste” Policy

Some residents of Springfield are pushing the idea of  a “zero-waste” policy. It’s a method used in San Francisco, Seattle, and even Chicago. It’s about making use of trash whenever possible, with less going to the landfill.  It was the topic of a  policy meeting the Citizens Club of Springfield hosted.  Rachel Otwell was there and heard ideas for how the city could go greener:

    I think all of these thoughts are great!!!! We are a downtown business, Richards and Stehman: The Rubber Stamp People” and we have started our own green program here. Recycling and refurbishing old stamps.
    One of problems is we need to find a new recycling for our store. We have had a really hard time getting ahold of the company that we used to use. Does anyone know of a company that comes and recycles downtown?
