The health problems continue for Springfield powerbroker and convicted felon Bill Cellini.
Cellini has been awaiting sentencing since last year, when he was convicted for his role in a fundraising scheme for former Governor Rod Blagojevich. A heart attack last month pushed back one sentencing date … now a family spokesman says Cellini was back in the hospital last week.
Richard Ciccone says Cellini was treated for a deep-vein blood clot.
Ciccone “He was administered blood thinners while he was in the hospital, he was released over the weekend and he will continue to be monitored and receive both oral and abdominal injections of blood thinners to dissolve the clot.”
Asked whether Cellini’s health problems could be linked to stress from his legal woes …
Ciccone “No relation. There’s no reason for anyone to assume that this is anything other than a natural progression of heart and vascular problems.”
Cellini is scheduled to be sentenced July 20th. His spokesman says he doesn’t know if that will be delayed. (Brian Mackey)
