Company Could Lay Off 250 At Decatur Office

A Decatur company has notified more than 250 employees that they could lose their jobs two months from now.  StarTek gave notice to its 258 remaining employees Monday.

Spokeswoman Rosemary Hanratty tells the Decatur Herald & Review that the Decatur office will close if the company can’t find another use for the site.  She says about 100 workers were already told they’ll be losing their jobs Thursday.

Chad Carlson, president and CEO of Denver-based StarTek, says the company is working hard to find new business for the office.  StarTek provides calling centers for other businesses.

The layoff notice comes less than a year after the firm held a drive-through job fair to recruit for 100 jobs.
