You may not realize that a large prehistoric Native American archaeological dig is taking place now in East St. Louis. It’s happening before a a new bridge is constructed across the Mississippi River. The findings have been impressive, even for those who are used uncovering relics in the area. Brad Koldehoff is an archaeologist for the Prairie Research Institute and is involved in the work. Koldehoff speaks Wednesday night in Springfield, at the Illinois State Museum Research and Collections Center on East Ash Street. It’s part of the Illinois State Museum’s science lecture series. But first, he talked with WUIS’ Sean Crawford about the project and what has been discovered:
